Camilla Baj-Rossi

Clinical Research Associate, Product Strategy & Clinical Development

Q: As a Clinical Research Associate, what does your role entail?
A: “I make sure we have enough clinical evidence for each of our amazing products. I oversee the smooth running of clinical trials as per protocol, collect and organise clinical trial documentation and data according to best practices for data privacy and regulatory compliance, and liaise between study teams and clinical and product development teams to provide technical support and continuous feedback.”

Q: Who’s been the biggest influence on your career?
A: “The first person was my high school professor for math and physics who gave me a passion for science. I also had a previous female manager who was a source of inspiration. She would always listen to me, understand my needs, and push me to develop. The final person is my husband. We have been working together and following each other between jobs for almost a decade, growing up together and supporting each other all the time.”

Q: What prompted you to pursue a career in a field of scientific study?
A: “Since I was a child, I’ve always enjoyed maths, physics, chemistry, and biology. I found it fascinating that science can explain how the universe and the world work, and that with a mathematical equation you can describe an actual physical process! I like structure and I like facts more than theories. So, studying engineering was the obvious choice for me!”

Q: What advice would you give to a young female considering a career in science?
A: “Sometimes it may feel like a male-dominated environment, but my advice is to look past that, be curious and believe in yourself because you are capable of everything. Do not let anyone set limits for you, only you can do it. There are so many examples of women that have reached top roles in scientific domains as astronauts, professors, directors of universities and centres of excellence. That’s very inspiring.”

Q: What would people be surprised to know about you?
A: “I consider myself a sort of hyper-active person. I need seven hours of sleep but for the rest of the time I can be on the move. Every now and then I need to try new activities or set a big challenge to test my limits. I have several interests but my favourite is sport. Even though I am busy between my job and my family, and free time is scarce, I try to get at least 30 minutes of training in per a day.”

Q: What’s your slogan for life?
A: “Always shoot for the stars!”
